After separation with my first wife, I felt the need to reenergize and refocus and nature was definitely going to be my go to. I decided to join a local hiking group so as to explore the Manitoban landscape and meet like minded people. As I went on those hike, I captured quite a few pictures and posted them on the group’s page and despite the fact that I only had my phone to take pictures, many people started complimenting me on them.
Comments like “your pictures are so beautiful”, “I’ve stopped taking my own pictures when you’re on hike as I just look at yours instead”, “you should totally sell your pictures!” started happening more and more and so I decided get my point and shoot out of storage, looked at YouTube tutorials and even read the manual!
I started carrying my point and shoot (since then got a DSLR and a Full Frame Mirrorless) not just on hikes but everywhere I went and as I gained confidence, I decided to print a few of them, some were a total disaster (the screen and printed format are two very different things) but some were a gem which I am still proud of today.
By that time, I had met my new wife Mary-Clara and she was really encouragement in my pursuit of photography and developing my skills, eventually, I decided to show some of them on my Facebook page and someone ask to buy it from me. It was a picture of a bird on a wire during a foggy morning in August 2018 which made for a pretty cool minimalist shot.

After that first picture finding a collector and a new home, I jumped at the opportunity to join my local Christmas craft sale market in my village of St-Pierre Jolys. My first sale there was a Fall scene of a train bridge in the village of Otterburne. The overall sale experience at that market was great and it spurred me to continue on that journey and led to where I am now!
