Hi and welcome to my review of the year 2023, first in this series is featuring my favorite shots taken in January 2023.

On January 1st, the year started with a nice winter fog blanketing the Red River Valley and so I decided that it was just the perfect opportunity to start my photography year. So I took my camera and went for a little drive to St-Malo Provincial Park. There, I captured trees covered in hoarfrost and also the Rat River still flowing with water due to the spillway by the lake.

The conditions created really amazing almost black and white photos due to the fog and snow contrasting with the dark trees which I really love. Afterward I slowly drove back to St-Pierre Jolys by taking the back roads from St-Malo where I captured that lone tree by a fence in front of a pasture.

Back in St-Pierre I captured a few shots of the rustic Maison Goulet in St-Pierre, a tree line covered in frost by a field and my most photographed lone tree.

A few days later, in similar weather conditions, I captured this beautiful halo around the moon

As the weather turn more to the traditional cold in the coming days, I later captured some nice sunrises just out of St-Pierre Jolys on my way to Otterburne.
