June was a great month for my photography, with my church we went to our annual men’s retreat at Manitoba Pioneer camp located on an island on Shoal Lake, ON. I love that place, it is so peaceful and the landscape is beautiful. A great time to relax and enjoy nature.
This is probably my favorite picture of the weekend taken at 5 am on the last day. There was a mixture of fog, smoke from the forest fires elsewhere in the country and clouds which really gives depth to the picture. A calm but slightly eery look, just love it. Totally worth getting up early!

But anyway, back to the beginning, upon arrival after a 20-30 minutes boat ride, right on the beach there was that painted turtle laying eggs.

One morning, around sunrise, there was that really cool feature in the clouds, like a canyon in the sky or the heavens were opening. Again, really worth getting up early!

That same morning, there was those little otters enjoying a fish on a rock off the shore, I believe it was my first time seeing otters in the wild, pretty cute!

I also caught that red necked grebe on perfectly still water

On part 2 of June I will show pictures I took during the rest of the month, including a pretty intense rainstorm.
